It begins

My blue family,

At about this time every year, I silently (or not so silently) ask the question, “why do we do this?”  It’s usually followed by a short list of reasons why a fundraising event of this magnitude is really out of our scope and is, therefore, driving us out of our minds. But that small and whiny voice is always drowned out by the deeper, stronger, louder, and truer voice that answers, “we do this because we can.”

In the words of Albert Einstein,

“Every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life are based on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving.”

We are so very blessed, and it seems impossible to give back in that same measure. We have been given the gift of this practice, which cracks us open to Truth. We have been given a space to share HGH, learn, grow, and serve together. We have been given this precious gift of community to shine Light out into the world, and reflect each to the other in a bigger and brighter way than we could ever do alone. We have been shown what is possible — as individuals, as a collective. And we are step-by-step, practice-by-practice, and prayer-by-prayer, making this world a better place. We do this to bear witness, to serve, to celebrate, to recommit, and to give back in small measure a handful of an offering for that which we have received.

Tomorrow morning at 6:30 am, I’ll be at the blue. Perhaps alone, or perhaps some of you would care to join. I’ll be opening the space with chanting and sitting — starting the weekend with devotion and gratitude. I will hold each of you so near and dear in my heart for the roles you have played to make this space, this community, this celebration what it is.  All are welcome to join.

Blessings, magic, peace.

Jill
