blue lotus offers two, six-week Yoga Foundations courses this summer
RALEIGH, N.C. (May 25, 2010) — blue lotus yoga & movement arts in downtown Raleigh will offer two, six-week sessions on the basics of yoga this summer as part of its ongoing effort to introduce the practice of yoga to the curious, skeptical and eagerly interested.
Designed for beginners, the six-week series provides a strong foundation of the basic yoga poses, or asanas, so new students can safely and more comfortably enjoy Level 1 yoga classes.
“Yoga isn’t just for certain body types or the ‘bendy’ people,” says Jill Sockman, owner and director of blue lotus. “We want to share the beauty of the practice with all who are interested. Our six-week series teaches students the importance of breath in the practice, how it’s tied to movements, and proper body alignment for poses, including — and this is important — how to appropriately modify poses to suit the individual.”
Sockman adds that knowledge gained in the series is intended to empower students to attend classes with confidence in their own ability to safely modify poses, for ease or complexity, according to their personal needs.
Questions are encouraged during the classes, which are open to new students as well as those who wish to refresh the basics of their practice.
blue lotus will offer the six-week Yoga Foundations series twice this summer, from 12:30 to 2:00 pm, Sundays. Session I dates are June 6, 13, 20, 27, and July 11 and 18. Session II dates are July 25 and August 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.
Preregistration for the $95 course is required. Students also receive a 20% discount on yoga gear, books, CDs and more in the studio’s store, as well as a discount on a 10-pass card.
