blue lotus yoga studio raises $6500 for Haiti disaster relief

RALEIGH, N.C. (February 11, 2010) – blue lotus yoga & movement arts in downtown Raleigh raised $6,500 for MercyCorps’ Haiti disaster relief fund this past weekend when it held a yoga-by-donation fundraiser as part of its third anniversary celebration.

“We are so grateful for the incredible yoga community here,” said Jill Sockman, studio owner and director. “That a little yoga studio in downtown Raleigh can raise so much money in three days says a great deal about the people who practice here. We are so fortunate.”

The weekend featured 11 yoga classes by-donation with prize drawings for gifts that were donated by local businesses. Donations were also accepted online at a dedicated blue lotus / MercyCorps’ website.
