blue lotus yoga & movement arts offers weekend of by-donation classes to benefit Hospice of Wake County

RALEIGH, N.C. (January 17, 2013) – blue lotus yoga & movement arts in downtown Raleigh celebrates its sixth anniversary February 1-3 with a weekend of classes by-donation to benefit Hospice of Wake County. Hospice provides physical, emotional, and spiritual care to those living with an advanced illness, their caregivers, and those who have lost a loved one.

“We celebrate the studio’s anniversary each year with a weekend of classes to support a non-profit organization – in gratitude for the community that supports us,” said Jill Sockman, blue lotus founder and director. “Hospice’s mission to provide compassionate end-of-life care really spoke to us, and we saw firsthand how critical its services are, as one of our own community members found support through Hospice during 2012.”

Hospice of Wake County helps patients and families deal with a life-limiting diagnosis, counsels families throughout their grief journey, and provides community education programs. Its professional staff and trained volunteers offer expert medical care and supportive services to more than 1,500 families each year. Services include counseling for families, short-term respite care, spiritual care and counseling, volunteer support, bereavement care, transitional home health care, palliative care, and end-of-life education.

“Our goal is to raise $5,000,” Sockman added, “which would fund 33 days of Hospice care.”

The weekend of classes by-donation is open to the public and accessible to yoga students of all levels. Register online to attend any of the classes, or drop in (space permitting). Every class donation enters participants’ names into drawings for gifts from local businesses.
