blue lotus offers a full range of classes for all levels of experience. This broad offering creates the foundation of any practice by providing a stable base for beginners, as well as a safe space for continuing students to explore the many and diverse benefits of yoga.
Vinyasa, also called “flow yoga,” is a dynamic and evolving style of Hatha Yoga, wherein the breath leads the body through movement. A fusion of Ashtanga and Viniyoga, this open system encourages exploration and creativity, while generating internal heat and intense focus. Expand on classic forms in a safe and supportive environment, and learn to shift from the outside world into a movement meditation. You will build strength and flexibility while you heal and revitalize mind, body, and spirit.
The following vinyasa classes are offered on a regular, weekly schedule.
level 1 vinyasa
Level 1 Vinyasa is a great place to start for those new to the style, or anyone who loves the flow but desires a more mellow-paced class. Principles of proper alignment, breathing, and mindfulness are taught in variations of basic poses. This is also a great class for more experienced students to get a “yoga tune-up” and go deeper into the foundation of the practice.
Open Level Vinyasa is a mixed-level class and an energetic, flowing series of interconnected postures synchronized with the breath. Each class is different, and every teacher brings a unique style to the space. Every practice is intended to be a complete experience, leaving you centered, grounded, refreshed. A few L1 Vinyasa classes or a Foundations Workshop is recommended before attending, for your safety and enjoyment.
level 2 vinyasa
For Level 2 Vinyasa, we suggest at least one year of consistent, ongoing practice before attending, as this class will move you into more highly refined, complex sequencing. You’ll explore more advanced postures and dynamic movement and be challenged to address your inner satya (truth) along the way. Dive deeper into the practice, cultivating higher awareness and a stronger sense of connection to yourself and your life.
In Power Hour, students of all levels are led through a strong class with challenging postures, using the breath and yoga poses to direct your focus and create a new level of core strength and flexibility. In this class, we infuse Vinyasas (movements with breath) through yoga postures to increase the internal heat in the body and create a deep stretch and lengthen the muscles. The class sequence is powerfully designed to sweat away toxins, balance the mind, and renew the body.

Explore longer holds in poses to dive into the less elastic spaces in your body. This practice has a rehabilitative effect on the joints, especially the hips, as well as the lower back and cervical spine, and is created to uncover the flexibility that gives us a sense of ease and lightness in our bodies. Since you will not leave the floor during this class, it is a wonderful way to step outside of the daily rigors of life and journey into a deeper state of chill. The class is appropriate for all levels.
early bird yoga
Wake up – the natural way! This fun and invigorating one-hour yoga class is the perfect way to get going in the morning. Not only will you wake up easier and faster, but you’ll also leave class feeling energized and relaxed, focused and expansive with vitality and energy for your entire day. While you are welcome to use your Membership or class pass, the drop-in fee for this class is $10. This special rate is available only in the studio and not online. We’re sorry, but no refunds will be issued if you select to use a regular drop-in or class pass.
flow & stretch
Flow & Stretch is the perfect way to connect movement and breath. You will be guided through a flow of yoga postures to warm the body, and then move to the floor for deeper stretches. Walk in tight and tired, and walk out open and refreshed. This is an open level class. All are welcome!
This all-levels class is great way to unwind from the week and start your weekend! Bring your mind and body into balance with a guided vinyasa flow, during which we’ll practice alignment, breathing, and mindfulness as well as easy stretching. Practice at your own level — everyone is welcome!
Rather than working on alignment and breaking down poses and structure, we will simply breathe and move together (with minimal instruction) to create a passage through which we can all enter into The Flow. So, what would you like to work on tonight? Shoulder openers, standing poses, core work, inversions, hip openers, hamstrings, balance poses, backbends, meditation, breathwork…you get a say in this practice! Requests will be interwoven into the class to make sure you get what you need. Because of the structure of the class, while not an advanced practice, this class is not recommended for complete beginners.
Yoga & Meditation is a deep stretch, slow moving practice followed by meditation. Healing and opening, this class is a nourishing, nurturing way to take time out during the day to renew and replenish.
stretch & restore
This class is accessible for everyone, regardless of experience or level of fitness. It is also an excellent practice for those recovering from illness or injury, or anyone living with chronic pain. A great antidote to a stressful life and a wonderful balance for more active practices, this hour-long class will take you through basic postures, gentle stretches, resting restorative poses, and simple breathing techniques to soothe the nervous system and promote complete relaxation. Be still, relax, and let go!
One of the primary objectives in yoga is our search for balance. Whether you have a regular yoga practice that is active and vigorous or your daily life is full of stress, there is no better way to create balance in your life and in your yoga than with a Yin Practice. This practice is a perfect complement to balance the more active, yang practices of Vinyasa and Ashtanga. With the understanding that the true antidote to stress is rest, poses are held for longer periods of time facilitating deeper openings in the body and mind. You will be guided through a combination of Classic Yin postures, deep stretch, and restorative asana to find deeper ranges of motion and an increased flow of energy. This class is appropriate for all levels.

candlelight yoga & chocolate
Indulge in a new experience. blue lotus and Elemental Chocolate present Yoga & Chocolate. Tastings of Elemental Chocolate are unveiled during this special sense driven event of yoga and chocolate, as exclusive Chocolate Seed flights are paired especially with the yoga flow. Dive into a soothing of your senses with calming, rhythmic melodies combined with a gentle, easy flow. This is an open level class, so everyone is able to find their individual comfort. Soft candlelight brings you home to the stillness within, as you float into deeper self-awareness.
community yoga (FREE!)
Enjoy a free class and support our teachers-in-training! These 60-minute, free Community Yoga classes are open to students of all levels. Instructors are currently enrolled in 9 Months of Transformation, the blue lotus yoga immersion and teacher training program. Space is limited, so please register at the WebScheduler in advance.

Flow & Create is about tapping into the intuitive way we move and create so we can connect with our bodies, imagination, and senses. Class begins with 40 minutes of yoga and ends with a creative exercise that requires no art experience.
juicy flow yoga
Yoga is a simple and ancient practice that joins two parts of our humanity – our minds, which are often busy or distracted, and our hearts — our innermost nature, which naturally seek spiritual focus and awareness. This two- our class is for the inexperienced and the experienced! All you need is a willingness to learn and find out about things your body can do. Come, play, and get juicy! You may want to bring a towel and water. The class is offered one Saturday each month.
kids yoga series
It is said yoga is everywhere! We believe it exists especially in the hearts of children. In class, the children will learn the poses, breathing, and meditation techniques and basic anatomy in a loving and safe environment. We weave age appropriate games, music, books, and art to into each class. The kids have fun while receiving all the benefits of yoga! The goal of each series is for each child to gain self-confidence and body awareness, increase strength and flexibility, improve focus, and cultivate a positive sense of self. This series is held at intervals throughout the year.
kids yoga & art workshops and summer camp
Together, yoga and art can help children release stress, express themselves freely, gain self confidence, and tap into their imagination. Each workshop or day camp provides the kids an opportunity to participate in a yoga class as well as a project, which introduces elements of art and the creative process. The fun themes use books and music woven into each day’s explorations.
In this Kundalini inspired practice, we will center, warm the body with exercises called kriyas, and then deeply relax and meditate. In doing this practice, your physical body is better able to circulate blood and your mental body is better able to center into stillness. Please refrain from eating at least two hours before class. All levels are welcome.
level 2/3 vinyasa
If you are looking for a little more challenge in your Level 2 Vinyasa Class, you’ve come to the right place. Enjoy this advanced level vinyasa class, where you’ll work toward poses like bakasana, urdhva dhanurasana, adho mukha vrksasana, and others.
Deep Stretch? Partner Yoga? Enjoy two of your favorite classes rolled into one! Sign up with a friend, or be paired up at the studio for a class of assisted deep stretch. This wonderful class offers you the opportunity to move more deeply into postures as your partner provides hands-on support. We will also explore elements of Thai Yoga Massage in this class.
At the heart of yoga is the belief that spiritual practice walks hand-in-hand with life in a busy world. Sadhana is any yoga practice that uplifts the spirit, tunes us in to our true self, and clears the cluttered mind. Rather than use yoga to escape the madness, join us to explore a gentle flow, slow deep breathing, and chanting. Steady your mind and strengthen your willpower, so you can move the forces of the world with love and understanding.
Yoga Trance Dance is a contemporary exploration of free-form, breath-driven movement to liberate one’s creative life-force and cultivate embodied freedom. A minimally led class will guide you beyond thought to the pure sensation of music. By awakening untapped energy and giving permission to respond to the pulse of the music from deep inside the body, we allow our bodies to move in a way that is natural. This fun, self-expressive movement welcomes the most inflexible of bodies and those who have two left feet. Simply come with an open mind, an open heart, and a willingness to dance, stretch and enjoy!
This practice is a perfect complement to balance the more active, yang practices of Vinyasa and Ashtanga. Poses are held for longer periods of time facilitating deeper openings in the body and mind, preparing the student for meditation practice. By focusing on the deeper tissues of the body we are able to achieve new depths in postures, deeper ranges of motion, and an increased flow of energy. All are welcome.

We are pleased to offer a variety of formats for the beginning student who wants to explore yoga practice, whether you prefer to start by dipping a toe or diving right in.
We offer a monthly, two-hour Yoga Foundations workshop, as well as a weekly, one-hour Yoga Foundations class. You may take either or both, or combine them for a Yoga Foundations package to create a beginner’s series tailored to your personal goals.
The 108-day, $108 Yoga Foundations package includes:
- 1 Yoga Foundations workshop
- 8 Yoga Foundations classes (most Saturdays, 10-11am)
- Option to purchase a 10-class pass for $100 (good for three months; can be used for any regular classes at the blue)
- Option to schedule private yoga lessons at a reduced rate ($60/hour)
yoga foundations: the workshop
This two-hour introductory workshop uses simple and effective yoga techniques to give you a taste of what yoga can do for you. We’ll explore basic movement (“flow” or vinyasa style yoga), breathing techniques, a bit of yoga philosophy, and a closing deep relaxation practice. You’ll leave invigorated and refreshed, with the confidence to continue your yoga explorations in our weekly Yoga Foundations class, our Level 1 Vinyasa classes, and beyond. You’ll also take home techniques you can use anytime to stretch and strengthen your body, mind, and spirit.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels of physical ability—at the blue we believe yoga is meant to be tailored to the student, not the other way around. So whether you’re looking to begin a vigorous yoga practice, get some simple stress relief, or receive the deep healing this practice can provide, this workshop will help you begin your yoga experiment safely and with confidence.

yoga foundations: the class
Our weekly Yoga Foundations one-hour classes are designed to give beginning students an understanding of how breath, movement, and body alignment come together in active yoga practice.
Each class includes simple and effective movement to invigorate the body and focus the mind. We’ll explore poses found in many active yoga classes at a pace that allows plenty of time for questions, modifications, explorations, and adjustments. You’ll be empowered to explore other yoga classes with confidence and the skills to safely modify or ramp up your practice according to your unique needs and goals. This class is also perfect for those with some yoga experience who are seeking deeper instruction or a slow-paced practice.
This class can be taken on its own or as part of our Yoga Foundations Package.
It has become tradition to mark the passage of time and celebrate the change of seasons with a Yoga Mala — 108 Sun Salutations. As we embark on each new season, we invite you to join us for this symbolic ritual. In any practice, Surya (sun) Namaskar (to greet or salute) is the embodied notion of stepping into the flow — of breath, of movement, of energy. Numerous repetitions of this particular vinyasa have a powerful effect in quieting the mind, allowing the practitioner to dive deeply into a true moving meditation. Be inspired by the group energy, be uplifted by the great world music, and re-set your intention for a regular yoga practice as we celebrate the arrival of a new season!
This class will connect the mind, body and spirit through movement and breath. Class begins with some slow, gentle movement and ends with Yoga Nidra, a guided deep relaxation to help release subtle tensions held in the subconscious. Restore and renew your being by re-establishing connection with all parts of you.
